Food and Environmental Education and its Impact on Elementary Aged Children

By partnering with the Poughkeepsie Day School, my partner and I had the privilege of familiarizing our food systems to elementary school students. We did this by cooking with them, running a restaurant service, doing arts and crafts, and planting vegetables. With these hands-on experiences, students were able to recognize where certain foods come from, learn about the power of the sun, and enjoy the processes of preparing food. By instilling this knowledge, we aimed to sow the seeds for a healthier, more informed future.
